Architecture principles

Rules we do not trade away for speed

These are the decisions that separate a system that survives a bad day from one that quietly does the wrong thing.

Fail closed under degradation

A missing price or a stale feed must tighten controls, never bypass them. Every control states explicitly what it does when its inputs go away.

Idempotent by construction

Retries, restarts and replays are normal operating conditions. Order placement and state transitions are designed so repetition cannot double-book.

One source of truth per fact

Duplicated writers drift, and drift shows up as a P&L mismatch nobody can explain. We assign each fact a single owner and let others read it.

Observable before it is fast

You cannot tune or trust what you cannot see. Structured logs, metrics and traces are part of the first release, not a later project.
